Dr. Matt Bulford recently graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine and is excited to begin his veterinary career with the team at Mt. Nittany Veterinary Hospital.

Before becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Bulford served as an Army MEDEVAC pilot, a career that shaped his dedication to service, problem-solving, and helping others through challenging and critical moments. After his military career, he found a new calling in veterinary medicine, combining his love of animals with his desire to support both pets and the people who care for them.

Dr. Bulford has always enjoyed being around animals and was drawn to veterinary medicine as a way to advocate for the voiceless. He enjoys the investigative nature of the field, recognizing that every case is a unique puzzle since animals cannot tell us exactly what is wrong.

He has a special interest in soft tissue surgery and is passionate about providing thoughtful, practical care through a spectrum-of-care approach. As he continues to grow as a veterinarian, Dr. Bulford hopes to help pets feel better in the least invasive and most accessible way possible, while partnering with owners to make informed decisions that fit their pet’s needs and their family’s circumstances.

Dr. Bulford is looking forward to working alongside the talented Mt. Nittany team and learning as much as possible from their experience, compassion, and dedication.

Outside of the hospital, he enjoys visiting local breweries, hunting, fishing, and horseback riding.
